Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) aspires to cater to India’s large financial services potential by offering global firms a world-class infrastructure and facilities. For the first time in India, Raahil led a team of aspiring artists to recreate the entire city for a fully interactive virtual reality experience. This entailed optimizing a city populated with almost 200 buildings, two lakes, and hundreds of small shops and shacks. Moreover, the timeline was 15 days to do accomplish this along with the actual programming.
The Virtual Reality experience involved a 3D stereoscopic corner cave display, with a physical ‘wand’ for navigation and grabbing objects. Through this mechanism, the user was able to navigate through the entire city seamlessly with a 90% realistic immersive experience. To add to it Raahil and the team also added some preset camera motions and quick teleportation to locations in the city so as to enable a quick experience when required.
The experience was executed in Gujarat, and was extremely well received.
Unfortunately, since the actual event was in stereoscopic 3D, there is not preview available for the same.
However, please take a look at the screenshots below to get a brief idea of what was accomplished.
